Painting

The painters arrived on Christmas Eve to start painting the exterior...

Painting Lightcourt 1

Painting started to the weatherboards outside...Gee I hope they remove the ivy to that gutter.
The verandah also looks rather precarious...waiting for the builder to fix that up.

Do I like the smell of fresh paint or what....

Looks new and refreshed....

The upper terraces are also tanked.

Roughing-in

The framing around the fireplace started

The foilboards are also all installed to the concrete walls

Jason busy cleaning out the woodchips and sawdust in the window frames before the glazing goes in...

Look at all the sawdust stuck inside the frames....heartbreak....

The electrician has cut the foilboards to prepare to rough in the electrical conduits
The kitchen bulkhead

The soffit is done too

Electrical rough-in

Depressing...the insulation is a heap on the floor. As the services are being roughed-in,  the guys just pull the batts out from the wall.  Don't understand why the builder put them in the walls in the first place. Should have waited till all the services have been roughed-in.

Progress...

Progress on site has been really slow lately...partly due to the wet weather...partly due to...well, just lack of progress.

The framing to the skylights over the existing part of the house finally installed.

The deep soaker bath to the bathroom downstairs...

Floods

The recent wet weather in Melbourne brought flash flooding to many areas around the city.  As the house was still not weatherproof or water tight, the site was virtually inundated.  Water poured through the roof penetrations and skylights (which weren't glazed yet). It was heartbreaking to see the amount of water on site and materials soaked in water ...

Pole Relocation

Tuesday was a day of significant milestone and achievement.
We finally had the power pole in the front of our house relocated!  It was a massive operation over six hours, consisting of a crew of 12 people + Jase.

The trucks arrived on site early in the morning

This is the BEFORE shot with the pole smack bang in the middle.
Do you see the men - they started digging with shovels!

Disconnecting the power to the existing pole

The arrival of the new pole along with the mobile crane and drill...

Dig...dig...dig... Drill...drill...drill...

And dig...and drill...

Craning the new pole into position

Setting the new pole in

Changing over the services including the lighting and Optus services
