The electrician fitted off our switchboard today, and we have electricty and lights! Jason was especially excited about it! He even took me to Barrett Street at night after work to check out the lights and to play with the switches!

Installation of the roller door
Another milestone for the backyard - finally the temporary chain wire fence is replaced by a secure roller door! We finally feel that our house is "secure" and no one can see into our backyard from the rear laneway! The roller door is massive...and so is the canopy! At least this will enable us to park our car in the backyard if we wish to...
The roller drum arrives...
and is lifted into place...
Then here comes the canopy...
and up it goes....
yup, it's big...
Note the door has a "reversed" colour, ie, the colorbond colour is actually on the face of the door that is facing inside...
Shot taken with the bluestone tiles sealed...!

The beautiful lacework
The front verandah received its final touches today, so the front facade is officially complete! The pretty lacework ("clover pattern", powdercoated charcoal to match our window frames) was installed. It is now a perfect facade!
The front fence and letterbox is also completed now.

They are spraying the first coat under those tarps....
New roof sheets and gutters have also been put onto the verandah...
The next step....painting the picket fence, and also putting in the verandah lacework!

Benchtops!
It was really really nice to see the benchtops going in!
The cantilevered bench to the ensuite vanity being installed here by
Amalgamated Marble.
The waterfall edge to the kitchen island bench. We were extremely pleased with the results, and were very happy to have come across these particular Carrara slabs.
Love the veining on the slabs...
The kitchen space feels good!

Front Deck
The front of the house had always been that part of the house that has been neglected, in a way. The verandah that was falling apart has finally been pulled down, and will be totally rebuilt.
The verandah and deck demolished.
Putting the stumps in for the front deck.
Joists and bearers put in place.
It took a while for us to decide on the spotted gum timber decking, which will also be used for the steps and the planter boxes. We are pretty pleased with the results.
