AFS

Our ground floor external walls went up today, which was extremely exciting to see.  The AFS Logic wall panels arrived promptly on site at 8am.  The lightweight panels are erected efficiently on site, braced and reinforced.  They are then core-filled with concrete to create structural external walls.  We were very impressed with the speed at which our walls were erected, which would otherwise have taken a long time if we had used conventional blockwork walls.

Aftermath of a wintry weekend

What Jason saw when he arrived at our site early Monday morning.  The wind had picked up our back gate and hoarding and landed it in the bluestone laneway.

After the front house was re-stumped, we arrived back at the house only to find large cracks developing up the walls and plaster....That's because the house is now actually level! The front door could not even be closed properly!

The moulding to the arch in the hallway fell off while the builder stripped off the existing lining.  

So much for trying to retain existing features...

Trenches to the back are now dug, with the sand beds in, in preparation for the slab pour the next day. In-ground services are also in place - the foreground shows the pipe connection to our kitchen island sink.
